WALINDE WAENDE PROJECT

The project was designed through participatory approach where different key stakeholders such as community members, pupils, ward and village leaders and district officials were involved. The project works in education, livelihood and child protection sectors. It is a five years’ project (2020 -2024). The main goal of the project is to ensure that children and youths in Namanga and Tingatinga wards have improved quality of life. The project has four main outcomes which includes; a) Infant and young children (0-5 years) are secured, active and healthy; This outcome focus on improving early childhood development (ECD) awareness among parents as well as services, b) Increased children’s access to quality pre-primary and primary education; including early childhood education (ECE), c) Youths aged 16 to 24 years are actively involved in social and economic activities for their own and community development and d) Supported community has improved access to child protection services. Some of key project activities will include improving learning and teaching environment in primary schools, construction of learning and teaching facilities in Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers, increasing community awareness on child protection, establishment strengthening of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) committees, and facilitate youth’s empowerment through engagement in social and economic activities.
