NUMERACY AND LITERACY SKILLS (LANES) PROGRAME.

Numeracy Education Support Programme (LANES) was one of the programmes under Global Partnership for Education (GPE). The main project goal was to support improvement of Literacy and Numeracy skills among pupils through increased community engagement. The programme has two key objectives which include increased local CSOs participation in promoting literacy and numeracy; and increased community participation and engagement in promoting literacy and Numeracy.

Some of the activities for this programme particularly those involved community mobilization and sensitization were implemented by CSOs. Thus, TENMET received GPE Funds to support LANES implementation through community sensitization and awareness rising on challenges of skills in Literacy and Numeracy in 20 Districts in Tanzania. CASEE as a member of TENMET implemented LANES programme in Ngorongoro District in Arusha Region which is one of the 20 districts where this programme was implemented. The main activities carried out were parent dialogue meetings, live radio talk show and literacy and numeracy competition. This programme was implemented in 2018.
